icicle tip haiga

icicle tip:
one drop of water …
… one long pause

Linked to Carpe Diem Haiku Shuukan:  Responsibility:

[…] The target is the objective to be reached. It was chosen by the archer and though it is a long way off, we cannot blame it when we fail to hit it. In this lies the beauty of the way of the bow: you can never excuse yourself by saying that your opponent was stronger than you. You were the one who chose the target and you are responsible for it. […]

(Paulo Coelho – The Way of the Bow)

What do you want to reach? Do you have a “target”? You are responsible for reaching the goal you have set for yourself … No one can help you with that … it’s your goal, it’s your responsibility.

find your way to worlds unknown
you are alone

  1. Another gorgeous haiga! Hmm a book of wonderful haiga might certainly find an audience… Just saying. Y’know, for when you’re looking for a follow-up 😉

    • A follow up? LOL! 😀
Yes…. I need to get my act together! There are so many directions to take … I keep changing my mind and “sorting” the haiku into different themes.
And … The haiga have been sorely neglected lately … Hmmm….
Time for an experimental haiku .. With brackets .. In haiga form ! 😉
      (A tall order, right?)
Thanks Blake – glad you liked it 🙂

      • Hey, there’s no rush! Ponder away until the haiku feel as though they’re slotted nicely into place – maybe try letting go of the process a bit, a la zen.. 🙂

    • Loved the haibun, Suzanne — very glad that you left the link in the comments. Hopefully more people will read it – very thoughtful haibun.

Thanks for the kind encouragement — this means a lot! Had this vision of the drop of water — which way will it go? I’m having such fun with the haiga month at CDHK — between this month and last September’s experience, it’s getting more “second nature”. Plus, a lot of the photo editing sites have helped too.

    • Thanks! HA’s comments made me think about old Facebook photos as a source for inspiration — some of these photos don’t exist anywhere else anymore. 😛
We lived in this house that was *classic* “50s” — arched doorways, round window in the front, glass bricks around the door… that round window used to get the most *magnificent* icicles.

And yes — was thinking about that moment’s hesitation — very glad you enjoyed it 😀
