4 9 2015 cat tail cattail 9 3

Linked to Carpe Diem Tan Renga #80:  Kala Ramesh’s “howling wind”.  Our task is to add two lines in approximately 7/7 to this haiku:

howling wind —
an autumn note within
the bamboo flute

Here is Chèvrefeuille’s response:

howling wind —
an autumn note within
the bamboo flute                                            (KR)

walking through the cherry orchard
I hear the sound of Krishna’s flute           (C)

And here is my own:

howling wind —
an autumn note within
the bamboo flute                                            (KR)

peeling the cat tails
layer by layer

at marsh’s edge
the green is lingering
waiting                                                                 (P)

I’m also linking to the One Word Challenge: Copper

You’ve got to look closely – but –
the cat tails are flecked with copper.

  2. Ah … I love your cattails – the seeds are just waiting to find a little warmth then – bam! a whole new cycle begins … bushy and feisty – even in the winter cold – awaiting spring 🙂

    • “Bam!” is right — they’re rarin’ to go! The wind is making them dissolve all of a sudden. But, ahh! The sound of the wind in the stalks. Awesome.
Glad you liked it. Perhaps a bit of a stretch to link it to copper – but it’s there. Just very subtle 😉

      • Cattails are a good example of copper … even if in the winter, they fade a bit. I love the sound of wind in the stalks and through the trees … reminds me of rain and tides. I like the sound of rain … it’s the wetness I object to 😉
