Linked to B&P’s Shadorma & Beyond, where Bastet has introduced the Tetractys.  In a tetractys there is no rhyme or meter, but the syllable count is 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 10 / 10 / 4 / 3/ 2 / 1.

At first I had no idea what to do with the prompt song – “The Mighty Quinn” – until I heard this:

“When Quinn the Eskimo gets here,
all the pigeons gonna run to him.”

  1. Oh I really like this – the images are so precise and fit together so naturally that you’d never imagine it was ‘constrained’ either by the form or the prompt. And I like how the meanings seem to hover just out of reach..

    • Thanks Blake 🙂
There was quite a lot of hidden meaning to this one … but it seems just like someone feeding the birdies. I’m so glad you liked it. Might have to try the tetractys again at MLMM for an upcoming prompt. Doesn’t hurt to revisit these old forms 🙂

      • Another tetractys certainly gets my vote seeing how you handled it so deftly here – I always enjoy those almost-but-not-quite definable meanings..

Plus “tetractys” kind of sounds like a dinosaur, which is an obvious point in its favour 🙂

        • I bet a tetractys has really groovy leathery wings … and talons! Nice! 😉

Will have to see about another tetractys down the road then. Fun to be poetically vague in such a fun format 😀

  2. What fracture of time put that piece of artwork with that particular song? Was it a quirky juxtaposition you came up with…or did someone inflict this on you? Also, nice imagery with bread crumb constellations.

    • Thanks Kirizar 🙂

I latched on to the beggar / pigeon idea because of one line in the song – and the painting went along with it – except these pigeons are a bit feisty 😉

      Quirky, yes 😉
