college hat

Yo, arTEEST! Where’s your hat?

Kat loved that cheesy straw hat as much as I did.   She said it made me look like a starving artist – one who might have painted postcards for tourists in a big (always unspecified but most certainly romanticized) city.

We’d both planned to travel – somewhere – anywhere – after college.  But instead, our lives fell apart brick by brick and she disappeared for twenty years.

her favorite song
remembered while traveling –
and the bridge weeps

  1. There is something light and playful about this – the haibun (introduction) and yet sad – unfulfilled with longing and lost hopes – I really like the flow – the haiku – the 2 images – works really well 😀
